Ben Simmons Hides Behind GF Maya Jama Amid Nets Criticism
Brooklyn Nets star Ben Simmons has found himself as the target of a lot of criticism over the past few weeks. Specifically, his refusal to return from injury and help his squad advance in the playoffs irked both his teammates and his coaches.
Even Allen Iverson has felt the need to weigh in.
It appears as though the nonstop backlash is weighing on Simmons. So much so that he felt the need to address it.
But not personally. Rather, he did it while hiding behind his girlfriend – Maya Jama. Eagle-eyed fans notice him retweet this message that was originally published by her:
Naturally, folks had some reactions:

Big picture, this most recent move is unlikely to endear Simmons to fans. If anything, it will just further feed into the negative perception many have of him. There’s a reason he is getting clowned nonstop these days. This won’t help.
Obviously if Simmons can return to the court next season and lead Brooklyn to a title, all his past sins will be forgiven.

But if that doesn’t occur, expect for Simmons to be the topic of more ridicule going forward.
