Anthony Davis’ Birthday Gift For LeBron James
LeBron James and Anthony Davis always seemed on paper like they would be a great duo. When the pair finally got together on the Los Angeles Lakers, it took them exactly one season to win a championship together.
Given the success they were able to achieve so quickly, the general assumption is that James and Davis have a very strong relationship. And by all indications – that is in fact the case. However, that camaraderie apparently doesn’t extend to birthday gifts.
This week, James turned 36 years old. Following the Lakers’ 121-107 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night, Davis was asked whether he got his superstar teammate anything.
“Nope,” he replied. “What do you get LeBron James?”

It’s a fair question. What do you get a guy who is rapidly creeping up on a net worth of a billion dollars? Although you wouldn’t know it by the way he reportedly tips, James has enough resources at his disposal to buy himself whatever he wants. That makes finding the perfect gift for him all but impossible.
Of course, that didn’t stop Tom Brady from trying.
Gifts notwithstanding, James’ birthday is a good reminder for everyone on just how long he has been performing at such a dominant level, and how he is nowhere near close to slowing down.
Entering Wednesday’s game, despite an abbreviated offseason due to the Lakers’ championship run, James was averaging 22.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game.

Clearly getting older isn’t bothering him any. In fact, the Lakers are betting big on James continuing at this pace until they can add Bronny James to the roster.
“I train my body for a marathon,” he said.
“I’m not your typical guy that’s in his 18th season,” James continued. “I try to show it to you guys over and over and over.”

James also realizes that he overcame a lot to get to this point.
“Coming from where I come from, a lot of people don’t even make it past 21,” James said.
“For me to be rounding the bases at 36 and playing the game I love to play and being with a great team and a great organization with a great family and great friends and a great support system, it makes this a lot greater than the alternative. Just very blessed. Very honored and happy to be doing what I love to do.”
Sometimes being the King is the only gift you need in life.
