The Los Angeles Lakers have built a large part of their identity in recent years around LeBron James.
Obviously Anthony Davis has consistently been dubbed the ‘future’ of the franchise, but for all intents and purposes, this has been, is, and will continue to be LeBron’s team.
Over the past few years LeBron has made it no secret that he desires an opportunity to play alongside his eldest son, Bronny, before he retires.
Naturally, this has made many wonder if perhaps the Lakers will move to make that dream a reality.
This week, ESPN insider Bobby Marks addressed the topic.
“[The Pelicans] have the Lakers’ 2024 first [round pick], but can defer until 2025. If that pick is at 23 or 24, and the Lakers have it, would they take Bronny James to pair up with LeBron?”

“[The New Orleans Pelicans] have the Lakers’ 2024 first [round pick], but can defer until 2025. If that pick is at 23 or 24, and the Lakers have it, would they take Bronny James to pair up with LeBron?” he openly wondered.
In order for Bronny to end up in L.A., a number of factors would need to align.
First and foremost, this week an NBA scout issued a clear report regarding where Bronny’s stock as a pro player currently stands.
Beyond that, it is also debatable whether an organization with such limited draft capital in the coming years will be willing to expend it to add a questionable talent like Bronny.
The reality is that there is a team that far likelier to come away with Bronny – and it isn’t the Lakers.

At the end of the day, this entire conversation is presently moot. Bronny literally just played his first ever college game this week. There is still a long ways to go before he has to make the jump into the pro ranks.
And by the time he does, it is unclear what the circumstances surrounding all parties involved will even be.
Will Bronny eventually end up on the Lakers when everything is said and done? Time will tell.
