Lakers Preparing To Move Up In 2024 NBA Draft To Secure Bronny?

The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly considering moving up in the 2024 NBA Draft to secure Bronny James. This aligns with recent rumors that Bronny is suddenly moving up “certain” draft boards.

Bronny’s freshman campaign at USC was extremely underwhelming, but he has two big things going for him heading into this year’s draft.

First and foremost, it is the weakest one in years. There are no franchise players available. None.

Secondly, getting Bronny – especially if you are the Lakers – also gets you his dad, LeBron James.

According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, L.A. is legitimately considering moving up in this year’s draft.

“I’ve heard from plenty of people that they are considering at No. 17, there’s talk of the Lakers wanting to move up a little bit,” he said.

While Fischer didn’t expressly say that the Lakers were doing this to add Bronny, it isn’t hard to read between the lines of what is happening here.

Los Angeles clearly wants to retain LeBron. Because of that, the team will move up in the 2024 NBA Draft, take Bronny and pair the two of them up in the way LeBron has been hoping they would.

Trading up in the draft generally isn’t cheap, but this year’s might be the exception to that rule.

Will the Lakers be able to lock up both Bronny and LeBron heading into the 2024-25 NBA season? Time will tell.
