Bronny James attended the NBA Draft Combine this week and easily stole the show.
Many expected the eldest son of LeBron James to return to college for one more year. When he opted not to do so, naturally, folks couldn’t help but feel like maybe he received some sort of guarantee that he would get drafted.
This week, ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst confirmed that there is one team out there willing to select Bronny if he still on the board in an effort to appease LeBron.
On Tuesday, while speaking to reporters, Bronny addressed the elephant in the room: does he believe that he will get drafted strictly because of who his father is?
“Honestly, I feel like this is a serious business,” Bronny said.

“And I don’t feel there would be a thought of, ‘I’m just drafting this kid just because I’m going to get his dad.’ I don’t think a GM would really allow that. I’ve never really thought about it. I think I’ve put in the work and if I get drafted (it would be) because of not only the player but the person I am.”
It is great that Bronny feels that way, but all signs obviously point to the contrary.
LeBron may no longer be the clearcut best player in the NBA, but he is definitely still at the top of the league skills-wise. And if squads have the opportunity to pick him up by adding his son to the end of the bench, they will definitely do so.
Will LeBron and Bronny ultimately wind up sitting on the same bench come the beginning of next season? Time will tell.
