Lakers, Clippers Battling It Out To Sign Free Agent Veteran
The Lakers and Clippers are battling it out to sign a free agent veteran.
As the NBA Trade Deadline approaches, some teams are looking for alternative ways to make upgrades.
Two of those teams happen to be in Los Angeles.
Both the Lakers and Clippers are reportedly looking into signing former NBA role player, Darren Collison, to a deal.
The 10-year veteran has not played in a single outing so far this season, but is expected to provide instant value in the playoffs.
Last year, Collison averaged 11.2 points and 6 assists per outing for the Indiana Pacers.
Collison opted to retire this past offseason, but left the door open for a possible return to the court.
NBA insider Sean Deveney recently tweeted out that Collison only had his sights et on two organizations. Both were close to home.

He’s in shape, will be game-ready quickly.
He’s not eager to leave Southern California.
It’ll be a @Lakers – @LAClippers battle.

Per Deveney, Collison has been staying in shape this entire time, so he will be able to make an immediate impact.
The Lakers in particular need some ballhandling help, so it feels like Collison could make a bigger different with them than with the Clippers.
A final decision on where Collison will ultimately sign should come at some point in the next few weeks.
