Lakers’ Best NBA Trade Offer To Suns For Kevin Durant

Lakers' Best NBA Trade Offer To Suns For Kevin Durant

The Los Angeles Lakers appear to be exploring potential trade options involving Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns. Multiple reports suggest the Lakers might consider a blockbuster move to pair Durant with LeBron James and Anthony Davis, creating a formidable trio in the Western Conference.

Trade rumors indicate six teams have shown interest in acquiring Durant, with the Lakers among the contenders. Such a move would significantly enhance the Lakers’ spacing and defensive capabilities, potentially solidifying their championship aspirations.

According to Fadeaway World, one deal would make more sense than any other when it comes to Durant heading to L.A.

In it, the Lakers would get Durant while Phoenix would get Austin Reaves, Jarred Vanderbilt, Dalton Knecht, Maxi Kleber, a 2031 First-Round Pick, a 2028 First-Round Pick Swap and a 2032 Second-Round Pick.

“Yes, giving up Reaves’ versatility, Vando’s defensive grit and Knecht’s shooting would hurt, but the upside is undeniable. Adding Durant to LeBron and Luka creates an offensive nightmare for any defense—a trio that can score at all three levels, create for others, and punish mismatches without mercy,” the report notes.

“The Lakers’ spacing would go from great to unfair, and Durant’s underrated defensive impact would solidify their title chances. It’s an all-in move, but one that could give LeBron his fifth ring, Luka his first, and the Lakers a shot at a dynasty to rival any in NBA history. For a franchise that lives for the spotlight, this might be a risk worth taking.”

Some analysts believe this potential trade may be mere speculation. The Athletic’s Jovan Buha has reportedly dismissed the possibility of a Lakers-Suns trade for Durant.

If Durant were to join the Lakers, their offense would become substantially more dangerous. Durant’s scoring ability (consistently averaging over 25 points per game throughout his career) combined with his underrated defensive impact would transform the Lakers’ roster construction.

The 2025 offseason could present opportunities for such a high-stakes move. However, the Lakers would need to evaluate whether pursuing Durant aligns with their long-term strategy, especially considering potential draft picks and other assets that might be required in such a trade.
