Kentucky Set To Fire John Calipari After Oakland Loss

Kentucky will fire head coach John Calipari after the Wildcats’ 80-76 loss at the hands of Oakland.

Over the course of the program’s last five NCAA Tournament games under Calipari, Kentucky is now 1-4. He hasn’t made a Sweet 16 since 2019.

This most recent loss was handed to them by a No. 14 seed that nobody thought had much of a chance to even keep the game close coming in.

In the aftermath, the calls for Calipari’s job began:

Kentucky’s track record with Calipari has been less than stellar.

Despite that, if the Wildcats had put together an even half-decent performance in this year’s NCAA Tournament, his job might have been safe.

What happened on Thursday was a full-on disaster, though.

Kentucky will fire Calipari before the start of this coming season. It is all but a lock at this point.
