JJ Redick’s 1 Big Goal Bronny’s Rookie Season With Lakers

JJ Redick’s 1 Big Goal Bronny’s Rookie Season With Lakers

J.J. Redick’s first year with the Los Angeles Lakers is highlighted by an interesting dynamic – trying to figure out how to incorporate his best player’s son into his gameplans in a way that makes sense.

LeBron James’ eldest son, Bronny, was selected by L.A. in the second-round of the 2024 NBA Draft.

Thus far, he hasn’t looked great. Even LeBron seems to be getting irritated.

Nevertheless, Redick has seemingly made it a point to include him in his planning for the coming season.

This week, Bronny spoke to the media and revealed what Redick’s one big goal for him this season is.

“He’s really encouraging, especially for the younger guys like myself,” Bronny said.

“He’s just trying to push us into something that down the road can contribute to a winning team. JJ has really emphasized the defensive end and being a pest on defense.”

Bronny did stop there, though.

“JJ has told me to be as disruptive as possible, forcing me to disrupt the ball and pick up 94 feet, disrupt ball screens, and stuff like that. So yeah, I’m just trying to focus on what I could do best in my role and it’s been pretty good.”

Bronny’s big selling point coming into the league has been his ability to be a standout on defense.

Given how poor he is offensively, he will really need to step up in that department.

Will Bronny’s defense earn him a place in the NBA long-term? Time will tell.
