Damian Lillard Admits To Some Issues With Giannis Antetokounmpo

Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo not actually wanting to be teammates is the worst kept secret in the NBA.

Everyone knows that Lillard wanted to go to the Miami Heat, not the Bucks. He has spoken openly about how miserable Milwaukee makes him.

And the fact that he skipped Antetokounmpo’s wedding this summer speaks volumes.

Antetokounmpo, for his part, also seems pretty annoyed with his team’s current state of affairs.

This week Lillard admitted that he and his superstar teammate have some issues to work through.

“Me and him gotta be able to hold each other accountable,” said Lillard.

“And I don’t mean yellin’ at each other all the time, just mean like I gotta be able to say somethin’ to you. And you gotta be able to say somethin’ to me at all times.

“He’s always had to put his foot down in Milwaukee and kind of lead the charge and be kind of like the man to push it forward. And I’ve always been that way in Portland. And I think now that we together, we both gotta look over and say, ‘This a top-75 player, too.’ And I gotta trust him to carry this with me. I think we both got to do that. After that, we got a shot. We got a shot.”

The Bucks have been very disappointing since Lillard arrived in Milwaukee.

Conversely, Jrue Holiday, the player the Bucks shipped off to acquire Lillard, just won a championship with the Boston Celtics.

Will Lillard and Antetokounmpo find a way to get on the same page? Time will tell.
