The Dallas Mavericks may be out of the NBA playoffs, but they are still very much in the headlines.
This week, in the aftermath of the Uvalde school shooting, the Mavericks decided to take an interesting stand on social media.
Specifically, they took to Twitter and sent out a message that immediately went viral – and not for a good reason.
The message largely speaks for itself:

Big picture, it’s easy to see what the Mavericks were going for here. They wanted to acknowledge a major tragedy that occurred close to home in a way that didn’t alienate anyone.
That said – it’s similarly easy to understand why some folks were rubbed the wrong way by it.
The Mavs have been in the news quite a bit in recent weeks for not-so-great reasons. This most recent disaster is just par for the course.
