Clippers Trade James Harden To Western Conference Rival In Blockbuster Trade
The Los Angeles Clippers have gotten off to a 6-5 start this season, and it is increasingly becoming clear what sort of squad they are.
Back when they first added Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, this group had championship aspirations.
Now?
They are barely a play-in team.

Last week a report surfaced linking Leonard to a trade to a Western Conference rival.
This week, a similar report emerged about James Harden.
According to the report, a trade that would send Harden to Portland Trail Blazers could solve a lot of problems for all sides.
“From the Clippers’ perspective, adding Simons gives them a young, high-potential guard who could slot in seamlessly with their future plans,” the report noted.
“At 26 years old, Simons’ scoring and shooting range would be a perfect fit alongside their existing roster, allowing the Clippers to stay competitive and also plan for the future…Harden’s shorter deal means they can test the market for him later or use him as a veteran presence temporarily.

In the end, this trade would serve both teams’ interests: the Blazers get a flexible veteran asset they can maneuver as they continue rebuilding, while the Clippers gain a young scorer who complements their core.”
Los Angeles is out of title contention. That much is clear.
The best thing this group could do now is start rebuilding.
That said – a Simons-led squad obviously won’t sell as many tickets as the current iteration of the Clippers. A tough situation all around, but the sooner L.A. opts to rip off the band aid, the better off everyone will be.
