Clippers’ Patrick Patterson Mocks Lakers Over Kobe’s Death
Clippers forward Patrick Patterson mocked the Lakers over their response to Kobe Bryant’s death this past week.
In the immediate aftermath of Bryant’s tragic passing, the Lakers were scheduled to play the Clippers at Staples Center just a few days later.
Because of how emotional of a time period it was for parties involved, the Lakers, Clippers and NBA as a whole agreed to postpone the outing.
“The decision was made out of respect for the Lakers organization, which is deeply grieving the tragic loss of Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and seven other people in a helicopter crash on Sunday,” the NBA said in a statement at the time.
Given that NBA teams play 82 games throughout an entire season, postponing one game, especially given the circumstances, did not seem like that big of a deal to anyone involved.
Apparently it was for Patterson, though.

This week, the 30-year-old Clippers forward took to social media to essentially blast all parties involved for wanting to move the game.
“What if we said no thanks don’t want to play the game you chose to cancel?” he tweeted out after it was revealed that the postponed game was getting moved to April 9.
Originally the outing was scheduled for January 28, but it was moved when Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others died in a tragic helicopter accident two days prior on January 26.
Patterson lashing out like this for no real reason is unsurprising, as he is a mostly terrible player who needs to resort to tactics like this for attention.

On the year he is averaging 4.9 points and 2.6 rebounds per game while shooting just under 40 percent from the field. The Clippers signed him to a $2.3 million, one-year agreement to essentially serve as a warm body with six fouls. He is good in spurts defensively, but that is where his contributions start and end.
If there was legitimate push back to the league’s decision to move the Lakers-Clippers game, it probably should have come from a far more credible source on the Clippers side than Patterson.
So far this year, both the Lakers and Clippers are having tremendous seasons on the court.
The Lakers boast a 42-12 record through 54 games that places them squarely in first place at the top of the Western Conference. The Clippers are not far behind them at 37-18 through 55 games, good for third place in the West.
While the Lakers have the better record, the Clippers have owned the season series up to this point. They won the first game of the year in fairly dominant fashion, and then won the second outing in come-from-behind fashion.
Match=up number three between Los Angeles’ two basketball teams is scheduled for April 6.
As a result of the original Lakers-Clippers game getting rescheduled, several other team had their outings moved around as well.
A Chicago Bulls-Clippers outing that was originally scheduled for Wednesday, April 8 was moved to Monday, April 6. Then a Lakers-Golden State Warriors game that was originally set for Thursday, April 9 will be moved to Tuesday, April 7. Finally, a Bulls-Lakers showdown that had been set for Tuesday April 7 will now be played Wednesday, April 8.
As of Saturday afternoon, no Clippers players or coaches have come out to condemn Patterson for his insensitive statements. It remains to be seen if that will change at some point between now and the start of next week.
