Brian Windhorst On Luka Doncic’s Plan To Play With Nikola Jokic

Brian Windhorst is one of the most prominent NBA reporters in the game today.

When he says to pay attention to something – it is worth paying attention to it.

This past week, Windhorst shined a light on the increasingly outward way Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks and Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets have been buddy-buddy all summer. It has arguably been the biggest story of the last few months, aside from how fat Doncic recently got.

Windhorst made the comments during a recent appearance on his podcast.

“I live in this world where literally people in the NBA are calling me up and saying, ‘Hey when you were with Team USA, who did you notice was buddying up?’” Windhorst said. “

And I would say, ‘The buddies I’ve been noticing this summer are Luka and Jokic.’”

Jokic is under contract with the Nuggets through the 2026-27 season. After that, he has a player option for 2027-28. Doncic, meanwhile, is under contract through the 2025-26 and has a player option for the following year.

Of course, that hasn’t stopped the Los Angeles Lakers from hatching a secret plan to acquire Doncic.

For the foreseeable future, Jokic and Doncic seem pretty locked into their situations.

Could a team-up happen after that, though? Time will tell.
