LeBron James and Chris Paul have been close friends for years. The pair’s relationship has been covered ad nauseam, and both have spoken out about their bond publicly on multiple occasions.
Which makes it all the odder that James has yet to publicly congratulate Paul on making the first NBA Finals of his career.
James has published countless social media posts since Phoenix secured itself a Finals berth on Wednesday night, and yet none of the message have been directed at Paul.
Mind you, James’ Twitter feed is a steady stream of hoops-related reactions.
When Giannis Antetokounmpo got hurt, he posted this:
Awww nah man! WTF 🙏🏾 @Giannis_An34

When Diana Taurasi became the first WNBA player to reach 9,000 points, he posted this:

When Jason Kidd got hired as the new head coach of the Dallas Mavericks, he posted this:
Damn I hate to lose JKidd man but damn I’m happy for him at the same time! Good luck Kidd!

And yet when one of his best friends, Paul, reached a new career milestone that most thought might forever elude him – crickets.
Naturally, this has led to many asking the obvious question: is the pair beefing?
It would certainly make sense if they were. The Suns defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of a highly-contentious Western Conference playoffs showdown. During that series, Paul participated in one of the dirtiest plays of the NBA season. Had things gone differently, he could have ended James’ career.

Is that the root of this apparent squabble? It’s unclear.
Either way, this is something worth keeping an eye on. If James’ social pages continue to have an embargo on all things Paul-related throughout the NBA Finals, it will serve as confirmation that an issue between the two men really does exist now.
