Anthony Davis Suffers Non-Contact Injury, Leaves 1st Game As Member of Mavericks

Anthony Davis’ injury history has long been a point of concern for every team he has played for.

Now it’s the Dallas Mavericks’ turn.

During Davis’ first game with his new team following the Luka Doncic trade, Davis went down with a non contact injury in the third quarter outing. He was forced to exit the game as a result.

Prior to his injury, this highly anticipated first appearance showcased Davis’s immediate impact on the court.

In his initial 31 minutes of play, Davis demonstrated remarkable efficiency with 26 points on 10-of-18 shooting, including a perfect 2-for-2 from beyond the arc. His all-around performance included 16 rebounds, seven assists, and three blocks.

This marked Davis’s first appearance since January 28, following his recovery from an abdominal injury. The eight-time NBA All-Star and 2020 NBA Champion brought significant expectations to Dallas after his trade from the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Mavericks medical staff has not released an official update on Davis’s condition. His departure occurred during a crucial matchup between Western Conference rivals, with both teams seeking to improve their playoff positioning.

Daniel Gafford replaced Davis in the lineup following his exit. The Mavericks’ coaching staff, led by Jason Kidd, will need to adjust their rotation strategies depending on the severity of Davis’s injury status.
