The Los Angeles Lakers’ decision to draft Bronny James in the second-round of this year’s draft led to a lot of polarizing takes.
Some believed it was a good move. Others, not so much.
On Friday, one of Bronny’s Summer League teammates from the Lakers went on record and called the youngster selfish.
Less than 48 hours later, another Lakers teammate stepped forward to offer his take on Bronny.
“No,” rookie Blake Hinson told Lakers Nation when asked if the stuff the anonymous player said about Bronny was true.
“Where is that (report) at? Honestly, you know how it is. Stuff like that doesn’t really shock me. But we need to figure out if that’s even true because to be totally honest with you, as far as his treatment, he was just a normal guy.
“He just played basketball, he really stays out of the way. He’s a cool dude. I don’t really understand how something like that came out. So that’s nonsense to me. Cool dude off the court, cool dude on the court. I don’t really understand that nonsense that you just informed me about. That’s not accurate, it shouldn’t be accurate.”
While opinions will definitely vary between people when it comes to just about everything, it is nice that one of Bronny’s teammates felt compelled to step forward like this.
Hinson doesn’t get anything for defending Bronny. So if he is saying this – you know he means it.
Time will tell what sort of player Bronny turns into down the line, but for now he is definitely evoking a lot of opinions from the folks he is playing with and against.
