Adrian Wojnarowski Breaks Down Lakers’ Coaching Plans

The Los Angeles Lakers parted ways with head coach Darvin Ham a few weeks ago.

Following the team’s disappointing conclusion to the season, Ham’s perpetual issues with the Lakers’ star players ultimately proved to be a death knell.

LeBron James has made it clear over the past few days who he wants to see replace Ham, but it may not be up to him.

This week, ESPN NBA insider Wojnarowski shined a light on the Lakers’ coaching search.

“Well, Jason Kidd. Dallas announced a new contract for him this week,” Wojnarowski said.

“I am told that is an additional two years on to a contract that already included next season. He is three wins away from his second conference finals in potentially three seasons. That takes [Kidd] certainly off of the Lakers’ wishlist.

“The Lakers’ search is going to ramp up this week. You can expect them to start calling for permission to talk to coaches and assistants around the leagues. However, one name that the Lakers have been drawing down on their initial research is JJ Redick.”

Apparently L.A. has been doing some research into Redick,

“He is certainly somebody that the Lakers are intrigued with,” Wojnarowski continued.

“They’ve been making a lot of calls to try to learn more about him.”

One way or another, the Lakers’ coaching search promises to get interesting.

Who will the team ultimately end up bringing onboard when everything is said and done? Time will tell.
