Zach LaVine’s time with the Chicago Bulls is coming to an end.
Not long after he signed his five-year, $215 million contract last summer, word began to circulate that none of the parties involved actually expected LaVine would play out his deal in Chicago.
LaVine himself made it clear that he had one preferred destination – but a swap never materialized.
This year, LaVine expressed to the Bulls once again that he wanted to be dealt. He even presented a list of four teams he would be willing to go to.
Chief among them: the Los Angeles Lakers.
This week, two other NBA teams emerged as potential candidates to steal LaVine away from the Lakers.
According to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, the Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors are two clubs to watch.
“Keep an eye on the Kings and Warriors as they battle with inconsistency and tough roster decisions,” he wrote. “Then there’s always the unforeseen injury that might happen to a team with aspirations of making a deep playoff run.
While the Lakers have serious interest in LaVine, one major roadblock is currently blocking a deal from getting done.
In addition, L.A. also seems to be exploring a myriad of other moves.
The Lakers are one of two contenders for Bojan Bogdanovic, have been linked to deals for three big-name point guards, and are one of four potential suitors for Jordan Clarkson of the Utah Jazz.
If one of those other transactions occurs, it is hard to see anything coming together with the Bulls centered around LaVine.

That being said – clearly Los Angeles wants to do something.
The question at this point is just what.
Will the Lakers be able to pull off a deal for LaVine before the NBA Trade Deadline? Time will tell.
