John Calipari Calls For NCAA Tournament In Bubble

John Calipari has called for the NCAA Tournament to take place in a bubble next season.

As a result of COVID-19 sweeping the globe, the 2020 NCAA Tournament ended up getting cancelled. In order for next year’s contest to avoid a similar fate, certain precautions will need to be taken.

At least one college basketball head coach is already thinking ahead.

“We can play the NCAA tournament in a bubble,” he said this week.

“Instead of it being weeks on weeks long, maybe it’s short. You lose, you’re out of the bubble. You go home.”

The bubble concept has been popularized by the NBA, who has enjoyed immense success with it.

To date, not a single basketball player within the bubble has tested positive for COVID-19. This has allowed the league to move forward with games that have no fans in attendance.

Will college basketball be able to do something similar? Time will tell.
