Yu Darvish Jokes About Steroids After Cubs Game
Yu Darvish joked about steroids after the Cubs game on Saturday, primarily because he was so good he even surprised himself.
This weekend, Chicago took on the Milwaukee Brewers in a Spring Training showdown.
Although the Cubs ultimately fell 4-3, Darvish looked fantastic from start to finish. On several occasions, the righty touched 98 miles per hour on multiple pitches.

After the game, Darvish was pressed on why exactly he was suddenly looking so sharp this year. He did not miss a beat.
“Throwing the high velo now makes me worry I took something supplement wise in the off season,” he joked.

The 33-year-old is coming off a not-great 2019 campaign that saw him go 6-8 with a 3.98 ERA and 33 home runs allowed. That homer total was the most in the league.
Given that he still has four years left on his contract with the Cubs, many wondered if Darvish simply did not have it anymore. This weekend’s effort quieted that talk – at least for the time being.
The hope is that he will be able to build on this momentum and put together a solid 2020 campaign that will make everyone forget about what transpired in 2019.
