Are the Rockies trading Nolan Arenado to the Braves?
One big position Atlanta realized it had to address coming into the offseason was third base.
Obviously the best case scenario would be Josh Donaldson, but if that no longer became tenable, a suitable replacement would need to be found.
According to Jon Morosi of MLB.com, the Braves have had conversations with the Colorado Rockies regarding a potential trade for Nolan Arenado.
Sources: #Braves have inquired to #Rockies on a Nolan Arenado trade, although discussions between the teams have not been active recently. Atlanta is said to be wary of the salary commitment but has the sort of prospect group Colorado wants in any Arenado deal. @MLB @MLBNetwork

Colorado previously inked Arenado to an eight-year, $260 million deal last year.
Any deal for Arenado would obviously have to go include a fair number of young prospects, and it remains to be seen if the Braves would go that far.
Essentially not only would they be taking on a massive long-term deal, but they would also be giving up future pieces in the transaction.
The Rockies, meanwhile, face no real pressure to move Arenado for anything less than the perfect deal. And seeing as they have all the leverage at this point, it remains to be seen if Atlanta is really desperate enough to pull the trigger on this sort of transaction.
