Red Sox Trading David Price To Padres Or Cardinals
The Red Sox are trading David Price to the Padres or Cardinals.
Boston entered the offseason with one clear objective: save some money.
One big way the organization can do that is by trading away their highest-priced asset in Price.
Where would the star left-hander go? Well, that depnds.
If the Red Sox are willing to attach another player to sweeten the pot or eat some of the nearly $100 million owed to Price over the next three years, they can probably find a suitor.
The Boston Red Sox continue to pursue ways to shed salary, and multiple teams have targeted starter David Price, sources tell ESPN. He is owed $96 million over the next three years. Red Sox could either attach player with value or potentially pay down some of Price’s remaining $.

“The Boston Red Sox continue to pursue ways to shed salary, and multiple teams have targeted starter David Price, sources tell ESPN,” Jeff Passan of ESPN tweeted out.
“He is owed $96 million over the next three years. Red Sox could either attach player with value or potentially pay down some of Price’s remaining $.”
Assuming they don’t want to do that, though, they could probably still work something out with either San Diego or St. Louis.
No progress for #RedSox in trade discussions involving David Price, sources tell The Athletic. #Padres, who badly want to moves Wil Myers, are among clubs Boston has spoken with. Pads extremely active, involved in a large, almost dizzying, number of pursuits.

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, Boston has spoken to San Diego about a possible deal centering around Price – but that remains fluid.
The #STLCards have long-standing interest in David Price and are one potential suitor if #RedSox trade him. The Cardinals were runners up when Price signed with Boston four years ago. @JeffPassan reported today multiple teams are targeting Price in trade talks. @MLBNetwork @MLB

Beyond that, Jon Morosi of the MLB Network is reporting that St. Louis has serious interest in acquiring Price.
“The #STLCards have long-standing interest in David Price and are one potential suitor if #RedSox trade him. The Cardinals were runners up when Price signed with Boston four years ago. @JeffPassan reported today multiple teams are targeting Price in trade talks,” he tweeted out.
This past season Price went 7-5 with an ERA of 4.28.
Where will Price ultimately end up? It is hard to say. But it is safe to say that his days in Boston are coming to an end sooner rather than later.
