Phillies Catcher JT Realmuto Getting Record Salary
Phillies catcher JT Realmuto is getting a record salary when he becomes a free agent next winter.
The Philadelphia star recently lost his arbitration case against the team, but remains positive that a big deal lays ahead.
According to MLB Network insider Jon Heyman, Realmuto will likely get a contract that is larger than Joe Mauer’s $23 million deal.
Furthermore, it is “quite possible” that the two-time All-Star will also be in line for a seven-year agreement.
Realmuto, however, is set up for big payday as game’s best catcher with free agency coming up after year. He is expected to seek record salary for catcher (Mauer $23M is current record) and quite possibly a 7-year deal.

Realmuto is arguably the best catcher in baseball right now. At 28 years old, he is tremendous defensively and a strong contributor offensively. Last year, he recorded 25 homers and 83 RBIs.
Although he was unable to get the $12.4 million he desired from Philadelphia this year, he is still getting a raise from a little more than $6 million to $10 million.
Last year, the Phillies went 81-81. It remains to be seen if Realmuto and Co. will be able to improve on that mark in 2020.
