New York Mets Fire Carlos Beltran
The New York Mets fired Carlos Beltran on Thursday.
Earlier this week MLB commissioner Rob Manfred implicated the Houston Astros in a sordid sign-stealing scandal.
Beltran was a member of the organization when the cheating occurred, and was said to be aware of what was happening.
Shortly after Manfred made his announcement, Houston fired skipper AJ Hinch. One day later, the Boston Red Sox let go of manager Alex Cora, who was a bench coach with the Astros when the sign-stealing occurred.
Beltran ultimately became the last shoe to drop.
Despite the league not finding enough evidence to officially suspend Beltran for what transpired with the Astros, Mets management felt like this was a move that needed to be made.
As noted by ESPN MLB insider Jeff Passan, Beltran never got to manage a single game for the organization.

The top candidates to replace Beltran are Hensley Muelens and Eduardo Perez.
A final decision regarding who will fill the vacancy will be made in the coming weeks.
