Jon Gray Out For Year, Rockies Prepare Their Plan B
The Colorado Rockies placed Jon Gray on the 60-day disabled list on Wednesday. What once looked to be a promising comeback campaign took unfortunate turn due to stress fracture in the right-handerโs left foot.
Gray had been 11-8 with a 3.84 ERA this year โ a promising sight after his unfortunate 2018 season where he went 12-9 with a 5.12 ERA.

Gray, 27, admitted that he would likely have surgery to repair his leg issue permanently.
If this feels like dรฉjร vu, it is probably because this injury is strikingly similar to the one Gray suffered in April 2017. The Rockies ace would ultimately return on June 30 and finish his 2017 campaign 10-4 with a 3.67 ERA in 20 starts.
According to Gray, it is that very same injury that has re-appeared this year. He told reporters that he had actually been bothered by the strain for about two weeks now, and he finally had a scan two days ago that revealed the stress fracture.
So whatโs plan B for Colorado? Well, taking Grayโs place in the starting rotation will be Tim Melville from Triple-A Albuquerque. The right-hander started for Gray on Wednesday in Arizona.

The Rockies aren’t winning shit this year anyway so it doesn’t matter. Sucks for Jon Gray though since he was having a nice season.
Rockies are 58-69. Feel bad for John Gray and all but this will have minimal impact on a team that wasn’t gonna do much anyway.
They’re 5th in the division. The Rockies aren’t doing anything with or without this guy.
Does this mean the Rockies will fall below last place in the division?
