Houston Astros Pitcher Gets 162-Game Suspension
A Houston Astros pitcher got a 162-game suspension on Monday.
Frances Martes received the punishment on the heels of a positive drug test.
The 24-year-old young star tested positive for a performance enhancing substance called Boldenone.
This marked his second performance enhancing drug-related suspension.
“Astros pitcher Francis Martes has received a 162-game suspension without pay after testing positive for Boldenone, a performance-enhancing substance,” tweeted out MLB insider Mark Feinsand.
“Martes, who was suspended for a PED violation last March, will begin his suspension at the start of the 2020 regular season.”

News of the Dominican Republic native’s punishment came down on Monday evening.
This cheating scandal is the latest to hit an Astros franchise that has been marred by them in recent years.
Several days ago, Houston held a press conference to formally apologize for a wide-reaching signal-stealing scandal that occurred during the 2017 MLB season.
Martes’ career record is 5-2. He boasts a 5.80 ERA and 69 strikeouts.
Seeing as Martes was on Houston’s 40-man roster, the team now has a spot to fill. It remains to be seen how they choose to do so.
The Astros will kick their season off in a little more than a month, on March 26, against the Los Angeles Angels.
