Mike Krzyzewski Reacts To Duke’s Loss To Wake Forest

Mike Krzyzewski reacted to Duke’s loss to Wake Forest on Tuesday night.

Although the Blue Devils came into the outing as significant favorites, the Demon Deacons were not going down easy.

From the very beginning, Wake Forest made it clear that backing down was not an option. The underdogs jumped out to an early lead in the first half – forcing Duke to battle back just to tie it up at halftime.

Then in the second half, Krzyzewski’s group was the one to get out to an early lead, only for Wake Forest to battle back in a way nobody expected the team could.

At the end of regulation, the game was tied up – sending the proceedings into overtime. Then in overtime, Blue Devils guard Tre Jones tie the game up once more at 97, sending it into a second overtime.

In the second overtime, the game got away from Duke. Ultimately, Wake Forest escaped with a dominant 113-101 victory.

After the game ended, Krzyzewski got brutally honest about what transpired.

“Wake outplayed us in the first half. Justin Robinson saved us,” he said.

“In the second half, we played defense and didn’t foul. And then we started fouling.

“At the end of the game, we gave the ball up. No excuse for the two turnovers we had. They took advantage.”

In Krzyzewski’s estimation, the game ultimately came down to execution. One team did it, and the other did not.

“We didn’t play like we practiced,” he continued.

“We played young… We’ve played really good basketball, but we didn’t tonight.”

With the loss, Duke now falls to 23-5 on the year. Wake Forest, meanwhile, now finds itself at 12-15 on the season.
