McKayla Maroney is a retired gymnast who rose to prominence as a member of the American women’s team dubbed the Fierce Five at the 2012 Summer Olympics. There, Maroney won a gold medal in the team and an individual silver medal in the vault event.
Since her retirement from gymnastics, Maroney has risen to prominence as an influencer. She boasts 1.3 million followers on Instagram and nearly 73,000 on TikTok. It is on the latter platform where she recently published a video that immediately went viral. Not in the same way that Paulina Gretzky’s TikTok went viral, but close.
