Matt Riddle Sexual Assault Allegations: What Really Happened?

Pro wrestler Matt Riddle was accused of sexual assault by a former associate this week.

In a series of tweets, indy wrestler Candy Cartwright described in vivid detail a situation involving herself and Riddle.

“Back in May of 2018 I was riding with Matt Riddle and a few other wrestlers. During the van ride, when the 3 other wrestlers had fallen asleep, Matt asked me to ‘hop on his dick,'” she tweeted.

“When I refused (although we had previously been together I was incredibly uncomfortable in that setting ) When I said no, he grabbed me by my throat, choked me and said ‘what if I just made you?’ I ended up giving him oral sex (praying someone wouldn’t wake up) to get out of having intercourse with him. It was incredibly humiliating.”

Riddle was scheduled to make his Smackdown debut on Friday night, so the timing of this accusation really could not be any worse for all involved.

As of the time of this writing, the WWE has not yet announced whether they plan to make any adjustments to their program.

A former MMA fighter, Riddle is widely regarded as one of the brightest up-and-coming stars in the WWE. He was viewed as a future star and slated to participate in a major program going forward.

Nether he nor his management team have made any public statements regarding the accusations as of Friday morning.

Riddle was not the only wrestler called out for alleged sexual assault this week. Using the #speakout hashtag, accusations were also made against Travis Banks, Joe Coffey and Jordan Devlin.

Given how many of the names mentioned were under the WWE’s NXT umbrella, it is difficult to envision a scenario where the WWE does not come out and make some sort of public statement on what transpired.
