Luka Doncic and his girlfriend Anamaria Goltes celebrated the Dallas Mavericks star’s 24th birthday this week.
Just days after photos emerged of Doncic being the only non-family member at Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic’s birthday extravaganza, it was his turn to celebrate.
This has been a rough year for Doncic. One season removed from making the Western Conference Finals his Dallas Mavericks have struggled to gain any real traction. A mid-season Hail Mary to acquire Kyrie Irving from the Brooklyn Nets has yet to reap any major benefits.
Because his focus at this point is strictly on basketball, Doncic and Goltes kept it relatively lowkey for his birthday.
Goltes ultimately opted to honor her beau with some sentimental photos on social media. Understandably, they went viral almost immediately.
This isn’t the first time in recent weeks Doncic and Goltes’ love for each has been put on display. The pair’s intimate Valentine’s Day celebration pictures also caused something of a stir.
Big picture, Doncic’s focus right now seems to be on helping his Mavericks right the ship. They are presently 32-31 and barely clinging to seventh place in the West. Having lost two in a row and six out of their last 10, the team has zero momentum at the moment.
Worse yet, Doncic and Irving can’t seem to get on the same page. The former’s comments about the latter’s struggles thus far are self-explanatory, but it’s unclear how long the patience will last.
Just two games separate Dallas from the 11th place Los Angeles Lakers. And a mere two and a half games divide the Mavericks and the 12th place Portland Trail Blazers.

Doncic’s muted 24th birthday celebration has a lot to do with how dialed in he currently is on getting his squad right. He is still so young, but the expectations surrounding him have never been higher.
After five years in the NBA, he carries the same amount of weight on his shoulders as LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo or any of the league’s other big name veterans.
Will 2023 mark the year that Doncic can finally get his Mavericks into the NBA Finals? Time will tell.
