Lane Kiffin will be the next Arkansas head coach.
In a surprising turn of events, Kiffin has stepped up as the favorite to become the next head coach of the Razorbacks.
Kiffin, 44, is currently the head coach at FAU but has extensive big time SEC football experience thanks to memorable stints at Tennessee as head coach and Alabama as an offensive coordinator under Nick Saban.
According to Dan Wolken of USA Today, Arkansas brass met with Kiffin over the weekend in Boca Raton. Football Scoop also confirmed that the meeting took place.
“Amid reports of athletic director Hunter Yurachek and his right hand man Jon Fagg have met with Lane Kiffin, we can confirm that Lane has had significant conversations with the Razorbacks brass about the job,” the report notes.
While the thought of Kiffin back in the SEC West is no doubt amusing, it is hard to ignore how underwhelming his performance with Tennessee was.
Is he really the right fit for Arkansas? Time will tell.
