Lakers Issue Surprising Anthony Davis Update Before Rockets Game

The Lakers issued a surprising Anthony Davis update before the Rockets game.

Ahead of Saturday’s big showdown between Los Angeles and Houston, the Lakers revealed that Davis would be a game time decision depending on how he looks during pregame workouts.

Davis injured himself in a fall during his team’s game with the New York Knicks two weeks ago. The fall resulted in a gluteus maximus contusion that he has been dealing with ever since.

According to ESPN NBA insider Dave McMenamin, if there is any doubt at all regarding Davis’ health, the team will simply play it safe.

Davis not partake in Friday’s practice, but did go through an individual workout afterward.

That same day, Lakers head coach Frank Vogel admitted that he was anxious about Davis’ absence.

“On a 1-10 (scale)?” he asked.

“Twenty? Thirty? Forty? A hundred? Two-hundred? I’m very anxious, but also having the mindset to be very wise and patient and intelligent about an injury to a very important player that we’re not going to rush back.

“We’re going to be conservative and make sure he’s right before we return him to play, have a marathon mindset to the season, as we would with all of our players, but in particular someone of his caliber.”

The Lakers have gone 3-1 with Davis out, losing only to the Orlando Magic.

A final decision on Davis’ status will likely come in the next few hours.
