Kyrie Irving has been out of action all season thus far over his refusal to get a COVID-19 vaccination.
Despite his absence, the Brooklyn Nets are 15-6 through 21 games and sit in first place in the Eastern Conference.
Although Irving is not active as a player at this juncture, he has remained quite active on social media.
This week, the 29-year-old published this cryptic message on Instagram:

It’s unclear what Irving’s post is in response to, but it could have something to do with the news that emerged that the Nets were still desperately looking to move him.
“To that end, it’s worth noting that, as of late last month, Brooklyn remained open to talking trades involving Irving,” reported Ian Begley of SNY. “ESPN reported in late October that the Nets were taking calls on potential Irving trades, but not making them. In the weeks following that report, several teams said Brooklyn has continued to take that approach with the All-Star guard.”
While there is a lot of PR talk there, it’s clear Brooklyn wants to move on. Unfortunately, there don’t appear to be any takers.
Irving’s firm stance on the COVID-19 vaccine has had a lot of ramifications. His relationship with the Nets is in tatters, and his bond with teammate Kevin Durant is in a questionable at best place at the moment.
James Harden’s recent comments regarding Irving speak for themselves.

Will Irving ultimately return to the basketball court at some point during the 2021-22 NBA season?
Time will tell.
