Kawhi Leonard Reveals What Victor Wembanyama Needs To Improve On

Kawhi Leonard is one of the greatest NBA players of all time. Even if he were to retire tomorrow, his place in league lore is secure.

As a multiple-time champion and All-Star, Leonard’s deep understanding of the game is unparalleled. As a result, when he talks – people listen.

This week, the Los Angeles Clippers faced off against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs. The latter squad got absolutely thumped in the outing, losing 83-123.

Wembanyama finished with 11 points and 5 rebounds in 26 minutes of play.

After the game, Leonard spoke to the media and offered his thoughts on Wembanyama.

“He’s going to be good,” Leonard said.

“Once he figures out where he’s going to be getting his shots and reading defenses, I think he’s going to be good.”

Leonard’s teammate, Russell Westbrook, likewise offered his assessment of Wembanyama.

“He is one of a kind, as we all know,” Westbrook added.

“He’s going to get better each and every year, during the season, as long as he keeps focus and keeps improving this game, he’ll be fine.”

Obviously Leonard and Westbrook were just in the news for something somewhat unfortunate, but it is nice that both men have seemingly moved past it so quickly.

As far as Leonard’s assessment of Wembanyama goes – it seems pretty spot on. The youngster has a ton of promise, but there is a reason Gregg Popovich screamed at him the way he did.

The rookie is still very green.

Will Wembanyama take Leonard’s advice to heart and come back a better player as a result of it? Time will tell.
