Kate Upton and Justin Verlander decided to go all out for Halloween this year.

Despite 2020 being marred by various real world issues that rendered traditional Halloween festivities difficult, some notable athletes and their spouses refused to let that deter them.

Case in point: Upton and Verlander. The former Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue cover girl and her superstar pitcher husband really got into the spirit of things.

For the uninitiated, Upton and Verlander’s costumes are a homage to the 1991 Peter Pan movie, Hook. In the film, Dustin Hoffman and Robin Williams play the parts of Captain Hook and middle-aged lawyer Peter Banning, respectively. The latter ends up returning to his roots as Peter Pan, revisiting how he left behind Tinkerbell and The Lost Boys in Neverland while he went off to have a family.

Needless to say, Upton and Verlander and absolutely nailed their costumes. The pair seems to be having something of a fun few weeks, with photos of them taking family trips to the zoo and hiking having gone viral just a few days earlier.

Before that, Upton showed off a photo from a family hike.

Familial affairs notwithstanding, it will be interesting to see what happens with Verlander and the Houston Astros going forward.

After signing a two-year, $66 million contract that would carry him through 2020 and 2021, the 37-year-old got bitten by the injury bug.

In March of this year, Verlander underwent a surgery on his right groin that required six weeks to recover. In July, he was shut down with a forearm strain.

When October rolled around, he underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow.

The rehab process for something like that takes at least 12 months, meaning best case scenario Verlander will be back pitching in 2022 at age 39 – at which point he will be a free agent.

Who will he ultimately suit up for in 2022? Time will tell.
