Jeremy Lin Calls Donald Trump Racist Over Coronavirus

Jeremy Lin called Donald Trump racist over coronavirus comments made by the President of the United States recently.

The former NBA star and current Beijing Ducks star called Trump out on Thursday for “empowering” racism. Specifically, Lin disapproved of Trump referring to the pandemic sweeping the globe as the “Chinese virus” as opposed to COVID-19 or coronavirus.

“I wish you would powerfully support the vulnerable people that will suffer due to our mismanagement of this virus, including those that will be affected by the racism you’re empowering,” Lin tweeted.

One day earlier, Trump held a press conference during which he promised to support industries that had been hit hard by COVID-19.

“The United States will be powerfully supporting those industries, like Airlines and others, that are particularly affected by the Chinese Virus,” Trump said. “We will be stronger than ever before!”

Shortly after making his statement, Trump was asked why he kept using the term “Chinese virus” and whether it was racist. The president replied that it was “not racist at all” because “it comes from China.”
