Jalen Hurts Gets Real About Nick Saban, Alabama, Tua Tagovailoa

Jalen Hurts recently opened up about Nick Saban, Alabama and Tua Tagovailoa in a recent interview.

Speaking to ESPN’s Outside the Lines this past week, Hurts was pressed on his relationship with his former head coach and one-time backup.

“I’ve got a lot of appreciation for him and a lot of respect for him,” he said of Saban.

“We’re more similar than people realize. He’s a relentless competitor.

“He takes a straight-on approach in what he does. And those similarities are exact reason why I chose to go that university.”

Hurts was originally Alabama’s starting quarterback, but he was ultimately replaced in that role by Tagovailoa.

The decision led to Hurts transferring to Oklahoma and having a great season with the Sooners this past year.

“That’s a relationship that will never go away or die down,” Hurts said of Tagovailoa.

“I talked to him and kept in touch with him all year. I’m pulling for him as always.”

Last year, Hurts recorded 3,851 yards, 32 touchdowns and 8 interceptions through the air for the Sooners as a senior. He also chipped in 1,323 yards and 21 touchdowns on the ground.

Hurts is widely regarded as a potential Day 2 selection in the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft.
