The Jacksonville Jaguars will fire Doug Marrone.

At this point is not a question of if the team will part ways with him, but a question of when.

Marrone announced this week that starting quarterback Nick Foles was being benched in favor of Gardner Minshew. The rookie will now start versus the Los Angeles Chargers this weekend.

The move was made to placate the growing chorus of criticism towards Marrone over the past few weeks.

According to a report from Mike Freeman of the Bleacher Report, “two NFC front-office executives said they believe coach Doug Marrone might be the one to pay for Foles’ ineptitude.”

These execs believe that, in Freeman’s words, Marrone “isn’t just sitting on a hot seat but on one the temperature of seven million suns.’

The Jaguars are currently 4-8 through 12 games and hold the worst record in the AFC South. Mind you, this is just two years removed from them being one good quarter away from playing in Super Bowl instead of the New England Patriots.

Clearly the time for change has come in Jacksonville.
