Is Texas QB Sam Ehlinger basically a worse Tim Tebow?

Not according to Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt.

While appearing on Breaking The Huddle this past Thursday, Klatt absolutely snapped at the notion of the former Florida star and the current Longhorns star being similar talents.

Klatt insists that comparing Ehlinger to Tebow is an “absolute insult” and that Ehlinger is “twice or three times” the passer that his Florida counterpart was.

As it stands, Ehlinger and his Texas squad are currently 3-1 on the year and are on track to be serious contenders in the Big 12.

Over the course of his career, Ehlinger has passed for 6,444 yards and 51 touchdowns with a 63.7 completion percentage.

Conversely, Tebow passed for 9,285 yards and 88 touchdowns with a 66.4 completion percentage.

So far, Ehlinger has three fewer interceptions – 13 to Tebow’s 16.

Based on the sheer numbers, coupled with the fact that Tebow won in the much harder to succeed in SEC, it certainly does seem like comparing Tebow to Ehlinger is an insult – to Tebow.
