Indians Trading Francisco Lindor To Reds?

Are the Indians trading Francisco Lindor to the Reds?

Coming into this week, the popular trade on everyone’s mind was one between Cleveland and the LA Dodgers.

It is no secret that shortstop Francisco Lindor is on the block, and it is similarly no secret that the Dodgers need to bring in some talent.

To this point, LA has struck out on free agents – so getting one via trade is starting to seem a little necessary.

Apparently Lindor to the Dodgers is no longer the likely deal, though.

According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, Cincinnati has talked to the Indians about  potential deal.

The Indians are reportedly looking for some combination of an MLB-ready starter and prospects in return for Lindor.

A deal featuring someone like Nick Senzel in return for Lindor could make a lot of sense for both sides.

Senzel hit .256 with 12 home runs and 42 RBIs through 106 games. He would likely make an immediate impact on Cleveland’s roster.

Lindor, meanwhile, is a .288 hitter and has averaged just over 34 homers and 85 RBIs over the last three years. He is due to become a free agent in 2021, and Cleveland has seemingly already come to terms with not being able to afford retaining him.

Obviously Cleveland has most of the leverage here since multiple teams want Lindor and they are not facing any sort of time crunch.

Will a deal for Lindor happen? Yes, probably. Will it be this particular deal? Time will tell.
