Giannis Antetokounmpo unfollowed his teammates on social media this week.

The move could signify nothing at all, or it could be a preview of things to come.

Antetokounmpo and the Bucks fell in disappointing fashion to the Miami Heat in the second round of the NBA Playoffs.

Many expected that this would be the season when Antetokounmpo finally took the next step and reached the NBA Finals, so naturally, his early elimination was viewed as a major failure.

In subsequent days, rumors have run rampant regarding whether he will leave Milwaukee at the end of next season when he becomes a free agent.

Antetokounmpo, for his part, has suggested that he will stay.

“It’s not happening,” he replied, when asked if he would exit the Bucks

“That’s not happening. Some see a wall and go in [another direction]. I plow through it. We just have to get better as a team, individually and get right back at it next season.”

While there is no reason to doubt Antetokounmpo at his word, the decision to unfollow his teammates is objectively a weird one.

Naturally, Twitter had itself a field day.

Up to this point, Antetokounmpo has been linked to the Heat and Toronto Raptors as potential destinations he may ditch the Bucks for.

But again, based on everything he has said over the past week, Antetokounmpo has given zero public indication that he is looking to switch teams.
