Freddie Kitchens Gets New NFL Job

Freddie Kitchens got a new NFL job just a few weeks after losing his old one.

The former Cleveland Browns head coach is reportedly being hired by the New York Giants to join Joe Judge’s staff.

Cleveland fired Kitchens after he went 6-10 in his only season as the team’s head coach.

The organization desperately wanted to give him a second season to right the ship, but a poor end to the year sealed his fate.

Kitchens served as apposition coach in the NFL for most of his career, finally getting the nod to become Cleveland’s offensive coordinator after management fired Todd Haley and Hue Jackson in 2018.

The Giants have not yet announced what Kitchens’ role with the team will be, but presumably he will work in some capacity under Jason Garrett.

Garrett was announced as offensive coordinator earlier this week. He previously served as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys for the better part of the last decade, but owner Jerry Jones opted not to give him a new contract this offseason after an 8-8 finish in 2019.

New York went 4-12 last season, good for third place in the NFC East.
