Ed Orgeron Told Lane Kiffin Not To Take Ole Miss Job

Ed Orgeron told Lane Kiffin not to take the Ole Miss job, according to a recent report.

On Friday word leaked out that Kiffin would likely leave FAU after this season to take over as the new head coach of the Rebels.

Kiffin’s name had been linked to multiple head coaching vacancies in recent weeks, but it appears Ole Miss was the job that finally won him over.

Shortly after word emerged of Kiffin’s move, Parrish Alford of the Daily Journal reported that LSU head coach Ed Orgeron had a surprising message for Kiffin regarding Ole Miss: don’t take the job.

“Daily Journal sources said Orgeron told Kiffin a certain ‘fit’ was required to coach at Ole Miss, and he didn’t think his long-time friend had that fit,” the report stated.

Orgeron, who is currently having the best season of his career at LSU, struggled at Ole Miss from 2005 to 2007. During that stint he racked up a record of 10-25 before getting fired.

Will Coach O’s word of warning prove to be advice Kiffin should have listened to? We’ll find out soon enough.
