Dwayne Haskins Responds To Redskins Benching Him

Dwayne Haskins responded to the Washington Redskins potentially benching him on Saturday.

Earlier this week, reports emerged that new head coach Ron Rivera was interested in speaking to Heisman-winning LSU star Joe Burrow and Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa in the lead-up to the 2020 NFL Draft.

This raised some eyebrows because Washington had just used its first round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft on Haskins.

That said, taking a quarterback in back-to-back years is not exactly unprecedented.

Just last season, the Arizona Cardinals took Kyler Murray after selecting Josh Rosen one season earlier – and they came out in a pretty good position because of that decision.

Early on Saturday, an interesting new report came out. This one suggested that the Redskins were not simply looking for a rookie to replace Haskins as their quarterback of the future – they were just looking for a different quarterback, period.

On Saturday afternoon, after days upon days of rumors regarding him getting traded or benched, Haskins finally came out with a statement on Twitter.

It will be interesting to see what the Redskins opt to do in the coming days and weeks. It is clear that Rivera is not sold on Haskins as his quarterback of the future.

Will he make a move to fix that problem? Time will tell.
