Denver Nuggets’ Top Trade Target To Give Nikola Jokic Some Help

Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic is having another MVP-caliber season. Although he is unlikely to win the award a third time, the impact that he is having on his squad is undeniable.

As things presently stand, Denver is 22-12 and finds itself second in the Western Conference.

Barring Jokic getting hurt, they will be a very serious contender for the NBA championship come playoff time.

That said, despite all the success that they have experienced, the Nuggets still feel like a squad that could use some tinkering around the edges ahead of the NBA Trade Deadline.

It appears as though the team’s front office feels the same way.

According to Sam Amick of The Athletic, the Nuggets have a very clear top trade target in mind to provide Jokic with some help.

“With the trade deadline nearing on Feb. 9, league sources say the Nuggets will be on the lookout for wing help to come off their bench,” he wrote.

“They want to get longer, more athletic, versatile, defensive-minded and bigger in that department. The Gordon trade with Orlando in March 2021 continues to pay big dividends, and adding another player with that sort of skill set would be the dream scenario here.”

The return of Jamal Murray, who is continuing to get healthier and healthier as the season progresses, ensures that no major moves need to be made. But support on the wing would certainly be beneficial for the Nuggets.

Jokic is focused on winning a title in 2023. That much is clear. His brief encounter with an OnlyFans model aside, the only thing he has been in the news for this year has been his hoops-related accomplishments.

It is a noticeable shift from the drama and complaining that took place in 2021-22.

From an individual standpoint, Jokic has already accomplished more than most can hope to do in their entire careers.

Now he just needs to reach those ever-elusive NBA Finals and win a championship.

Will 2023 be the year when he finally gets it done? Time will tell.
