Damian Lillard Names Best Player In NBA Today

Damian Lillard is objectively one of the most talented players in the entire NBA.

Nobody can deny it.

That said, he still knows he’s not the best player in the league right now.

This week, Lillard appeared on the Dan Patrick Show and addressed an intriguing question.

Who’s the best player in the league today?

Lillard’s answer came as something of a surprise.

He believes it’s Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant.

“When healthy I think, um, him and LeBron are like they’re right there,” Lillard said.

“I think KD, KD healthy, could very well be the best player in the NBA. I mean, nobody can guard him. If he’s healthy, he’s shooting threes off the dribble, he’s pulling up off the dribble, he’s posting up.

“He can get to the rim, you can’t block his shot, he can hit, like the way he handles the ball, the way he moves at that size, who are you going to put on him? I mean when healthy I think like at this moment he could very well be the best player in the league.”

Lillard is not the only player to shout Durant out this week. Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis recently referred to him as the hardest player to guard in the entire league.

Over the past few days Lillard has found himself in the headlines quite a bit. First there was some chatter about him wanting off the Portland Trail Blazers. Then a bit about which team was going to make a serious run at him this offseason.

Through it all, Lillard has remained relatively mum and on topic.

One of the reasons Durant is as good as he is right now is because of the superior teammates he has had the opportunity to play with over the past few years. Will Lillard soon be afforded that same luxury? Time will tell.
