The Dallas Cowboys are recruiting an Ohio State coach.

Mike McCarthy was introduced as Dallas’ new head coach on Wednesday. He is off to a running start.

According to ESPN, McCarthy is looking to recruit former Ohio State assistant coach and current Texas running backs coach Stan Drayton onto his staff.

Drayton was with the Buckeyes from 2011 to 2014.

“Texas associate head coach and run game coordinator Stan Drayton is scheduled to visit with the Cowboys today,” the ESPN article noted.

“He coached Ezekiel Elliott at Ohio State before serving as Chicago Bears running backs coach from 2015-16. Gary Brown, who has been the Cowboys running backs coach since 2013, is still an option to return.”

Drayton having such extensive experience with Elliot would be huge for the offense.

The 48-year-old is also no stranger to the NFL, having spent a couple of seasons with the Chicago Bears.

Based on all the news that has come out of Dallas up to this point, it sounds like McCarthy is putting together a very formidable staff.

Will that translate into on-the-field victories? Time will tell.
