Wisconsin Makes Abrupt Coaching Decision
Wisconsin made an abrupt coaching decision this week.
On Friday, the Badgers announced that Paul Chryst would be receiving a five-year contract extension that will carry through 2025.
Over the past five seasons Chryst has amassed a 52-16 record, with three conference title games and four bowl victories.
This past season Wisconsin began the year 6-0 before losing back-to-back versus Illinois and then Ohio State.
In a lot of ways, up until that string of defeats, the Badgers were what many expected Michigan to be in the post-Urban Meyer era of the Big Ten.
Unfortunately, after that string of defeats, Penn State stepped up and took that mantle.
Wisconsin ultimately clinched a spot in the conference title game in the last week of the regular season with a victory over the Gophers.
Sadly, the Badgers ended up getting trounced by the Buckeyes and then losing in the Rose Bowl to Oregon in the last minute of the outing.

In 2017, Chryst and Wisconsin were very close to making the College Football Playoff.
The team got up to 12-0 in the regular season before ultimately falling to Ohio State in the Big Ten Championship Game.
That season, Wisconsin finished the year 13-1 and beat Miami in the Orange Bowl.
It remains to be seen how the Badgers will ultimately fare in the Big Ten in 2020.
