Tate Martell Losing Miami Starting QB Job Led To These 3 Hilarious Jokes
The college football world was rocked on Monday morning when it was announced that redshirt freshman Jarren Williams would be the starting quarterback for Miami in their opening game against Florida, not Tate Martell.
Miami head coach Manny Diaz obviously knew the move would surprise a lot of people, but apparently the gap between Williams and the other quarterbacks on the roster was big enough to justify it.
Martell, who departed from Ohio State because he wanted more playing time, was believed to be in a battle with N’Kosi Perry for the starting slot – a battle he was destined to win given Perry’s lackluster freshman campaign.
Apparently not.
For fans who feel like they are experiencing déjà vu, there is a reason for that: this exact scenario played out for Martell at Ohio State as well. He came in with a ton of hype surrounding him after behind a standout in high school, but for whatever reason, he just could not translate that high school success into an impressive enough effort to win a college starting gig.
In the aftermath of Diaz’s announcement, Twitter had a field day. Here are three best jokes to come out of it:
